Xinjiang Arts College University, located in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is the only comprehensive higher art institution in Northwest China. It is one of the seven provincial (regional) comprehensive art colleges in China. It is one of the 30 independent undergraduate art colleges stipulated by the Ministry of education, and one of the first batch of member units of China ASEAN Art College Alliance and EU Art College Alliance. It is listed as Autonomous University Xinjiang Art College is supported by Central Conservatory of music, Central Academy of fine arts and Communication University of China.The predecessor of the college is Xinjiang art school established in 1958. In 1960, it was upgraded to Xinjiang Art Institute. In 1962, it was adjusted to Xinjiang art school. In 1987, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, Xinjiang Art College was restored. In 2002, the college passed the national Ministry of education "undergraduate teaching randomness level evaluation" of the acceptance. In 2007 the Ministry of education undergraduate teaching evaluation was rated as excellent. In 2013, the college became a master's degree awarding unit. In 2014, the college recruited postgraduates from all over the country.As of April 2019, the college has east campus and West Campus of Tuanjie road and Jinqiao campus of economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of 958 mu; there are 12 teaching units, offering 33 undergraduate majors, of which 2 are key majors of the autonomous region. There are two key disciplines with master's degree in the autonomous region, four first-class discipline master's authorization points under the art category, and one professional master's authorization point (including 6 research fields and 19 research directions); there are 640 teaching staff, and more than 7500 students of various types.
