Xinjiang University of Finance & economics is the only financial university in Xinjiang and one of the five key universities in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The school is located on the beautiful Beijing Road in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, with a total area of 620000 square meters in the South and North campuses. It was selected as a national model university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. Xinjiang University of Finance and economics is supported by Shanghai University of Finance and economics and Renmin University of China.The predecessor of the school is the cadre school of Xinjiang Provincial People's government established in 1950, which was upgraded to Xinjiang University of Finance and economics in 1959; in 2000, the former Xinjiang University of Finance and economics, Xinjiang Economic Management Cadre College and Xinjiang finance school including Xinjiang taxation school merged to establish a new Xinjiang University of Finance and economics. In 2007, it was officially renamed Xinjiang University of Finance and economics.As of January 2020, the university has 16 teaching departments with 16642 students, including 1996 graduate students, 12921 full-time undergraduates and 1712 adult students. There are 1183 in-service teaching staff, including 733 full-time teachers, 44.2% of full-time teachers with the title of deputy senior or above, 207 full-time teachers with doctor's degree, 427 with master's degree, and 86.5% of full-time teachers with master's degree or above.
