Yili Normal University is an ordinary higher normal university under the management of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which is jointly built by the Ministry of education, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Jiangsu Province.The predecessor of the school is Xinjiang Provincial Yili college, which was established in 1948. It was renamed Yili Normal School in 1953. In 1980, with the approval of the State Council, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate university and named Yili Normal University.
