Kashgar university is a full-time undergraduate university sponsored by the people's Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is a University of basic capacity building engineering in central and western universities and 100 Pilot Universities of transformation and development in China.The University was founded in 1962, formerly known as Kashi normal college; in 1978, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Kashi normal college; in 2003, it obtained the qualification of authorized unit for master's degree; in 2012, it was listed as a University of basic capacity building engineering in central and Western Universities; in April 2015, it was renamed Kashi University.According to the official website of the University in May 2019, the university has two campuses, covering an area of 1.6607 million square meters, with a total value of 146 million yuan of teaching equipment, 15 teaching units, 53 undergraduate majors (including 3 professional directions), 3 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points, 2 second-class discipline master's degree authorization points, and 3 master's professional degree authorization points. There are 1098 teaching staff and 14832 students.
