Ningxia Institute of technology is an ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of education, located in Shizuishan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is included in the Ministry of education's plan of counterpart support for universities in the western region. It is a University jointly built by the people's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the people's Government of Shizuishan City, with counterpart support from Northeast University and Zhejiang University of technology.Ningxia Institute of technology was founded in 1985, formerly known as Ningxia Shizuishan United University; in 1993, it was renamed Ningxia Shizuishan staff university with the approval of the former State Education Commission; in 2000, it was renamed Ningxia Shizuishan vocational and technical college with the approval of the people's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and the Ministry of education; in 2005, it was upgraded to an ordinary undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of education.As of April 2019, the school covers an area of more than 1500 mu, water area of more than 3000 mu, and construction area of more than 340000 square meters; it has 13 secondary colleges and departments, 46 undergraduate majors (as of March 2020), 26 junior majors, involving 9 disciplines; there are more than 600 full-time teachers and 11600 full-time students.
