Kunming University Kunming University, located at No.2, Puxin Road, Kunming Economic and Technological Development Zone, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, is a full-time ordinary college approved by the Ministry of education in May 2004. It is formed on the basis of the combination of the former Kunming Normal College (founded in 1978) and the former Kunming University (founded in 1984) by integrating the educational resources of Kunming city. It has been selected into the first batch of "three universities" It is the director unit of Yunnan Application-oriented University Alliance, the member unit of national newly established undergraduate university alliance, National Local University Teacher Education Alliance, and Yunnan University Teacher Education Alliance.As of January 2020, the campus covers a total area of 2439.18 mu, of which, the Yangpu campus covers an area of 1817 mu, the main campus has a planned construction area of more than 600000 square meters, a built-up area of 482000 square meters, and the total value of fixed assets of the school is more than 2 billion yuan. The school has 21 Colleges (departments), 63 undergraduate majors and 18 characteristic specialties, covering 11 disciplines. There are 1645 on-the-job teaching staff, including 1075 full-time teachers, more than 170 doctors and PhD candidates, and 120 professors and other personnel with high professional titles.
