Honghe University is located in Mengzi City, the capital of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. It is a provincial public comprehensive undergraduate college in Yunnan Province. The school implements the management system of "co construction and co management of provinces and prefectures, with the province as the main body".The predecessor of the school is Mengzi normal college, which was founded in 1978. In April 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it was formed by the merger of Mengzi normal college and Honghe branch of Yunnan Radio and TV University.As of April 2020, the official website shows that the school covers an area of more than 1166 mu, with a building area of 335300 square meters, teaching and administrative rooms of 180800 square meters, fixed assets of 645 million yuan, teaching and scientific research equipment value of 95.60100 yuan, and library collection of 1.078 million books. There are 14 teaching departments and 66 undergraduate majors. There are 923 teaching staff, including 682 full-time teachers, 265 full-time teachers with senior professional titles, 79 with senior professional titles, 186 with deputy senior professional titles, 105 teachers with doctor's degree, and 14075 full-time students.
