Kunming Medical University Kunming Medical University (hereinafter referred to as "Kunming Medical University") is the largest medical college integrating teaching, medical treatment and scientific research in Yunnan Province. It is a key construction university and provincial key university of the national "Midwest university basic ability construction project". It has been selected as the pilot University of "excellent doctor education and training plan" of the Ministry of education, the National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan, and the "International Medical University" of Yunnan Province It is one of the first batch of colleges and universities to recruit Chinese government scholarships for international students. It is a member of South Asia and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Health Alliance.The history of Kunming Medical University can be traced back to the Department of medicine of Donglu University, which was founded in 1933. In 1934, it was renamed as the Medical College of Yunnan University. In 1937, it was renamed as the National Medical College of Yunnan University. In 1950, it was renamed as the Medical College of Yunnan University. In 1956, it was independently established as Kunming Medical College. In 1981, it became one of the first batch of master's degree awarding units in China. In 1998, it was approved to be a doctor's degree awarding unit. In 2010, Yunnan Medical College was incorporated. In 2012, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the University changed its name to Kunming Medical University.As of November 2019, the university has three campuses, namely Chenggong (main campus), Renmin West Road and Pingzheng, covering an area of 1482 mu. There are 18 colleges (departments) and 33 undergraduate majors. There are 3 post doctoral research mobile stations, 3 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 7 first-class discipline master degree authorization points, 4 second-class discipline master degree authorization points and 1 doctoral professional degree authorization point There are 4 directly affiliated hospitals, 13 non directly affiliated hospitals, 15 teaching hospitals and 41 practice hospitals; there are 6178 staff (1580 in the school headquarters and 4598 in directly affiliated hospitals); there are 19318 full-time students, including 14491 undergraduate students, 3234 master students, 295 doctoral students, 513 international students and 785 junior college students 。
