It was renamed Chengdu College of agricultural machinery in 1972 and Sichuan Institute of technology in 1983. In 2003, Sichuan Institute of technology merged with Chengdu teachers college to form Xihua University. In 2008, Sichuan Economic Management Cadre College was incorporated.As of June 2019, the university has four campuses, namely headquarters, Pengzhou, Rennan and Yibin, covering an area of nearly 3000 mu; the library has more than 2.6 million volumes of paper literature and more than 8 million volumes of e-books; it has more than 960 senior professional and technical personnel; it has 28 colleges and 89 undergraduate majors; it has 32 master's degree authorization points, including 18 first-class disciplines, master's degree authorization disciplines and 14 second-class disciplines In addition, there are 13 professional master's degree categories and more than 40000 full-time students.
