Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences is a full-time regular undergraduate university sponsored by Chongqing Municipal People's government, and one of the first batch of Pilot Universities in the reform of national excellent agriculture and forestry talents education and training plan. Its predecessor, Chongqing Teachers College and Yuzhou Institute of education, were founded in 1976 and 1972 respectively; in May 2001, the two schools merged to form Chongqing Yuxi College; in April 2005, the school changed its name to Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences.The school is located in Yongchuan District, Chongqing, with two campuses, Honghe and Xinghu.
