It is the core collaborative University and Middle School of the national "2011 plan" It is one of the four posts and Telecommunications universities set up and built by the state, and a member of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications was founded in March 1950, formerly known as the postal personnel training class of Dongchuan post administration; in January 1951, it was transformed into southwest branch of Posts and telecommunications; in March 1953, it was divided into Chongqing post and Telecommunications School; in May 1955, it was renamed as Chongqing telecommunication school; in March 1959, it was upgraded to Chongqing College of Posts and telecommunications; in April 1970, it was transformed into 529 factory of the General Administration of telecommunications; in July 1973, it was transformed into posts and Telecommunications again In May 1979, it was restored to Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications; in 2006, it was renamed Chongqing University of Posts and telecommunications.As of March 2016, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications covers an area of 3800 mu, with a building area of 630000 square meters and more than 2.3 million books; there are more than 24000 students, including more than 3100 graduate students and more than 1700 in-service staff; it has 16 secondary colleges, 3 research institutes and 53 undergraduate majors.
