Shaoyang University, located in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, is a pilot University of the national "excellent doctor education and training plan".Founded in 1958, the school formerly known as Shaoyang normal college, merged with Shaoyang college in 2002 and upgraded to an undergraduate level college. In 2011, the University obtained the enrollment right of Engineering Master's degree (serving the national talent training project with special needs); in November 2017, the University was added as the construction unit of master's degree awarding unit in Hunan Province (the third batch).According to the school's official website in June 2016, the school covers an area of 2376 mu; the school building area is 723500 square meters; the fixed assets are 1.069 billion yuan, the original value of teaching equipment is 154 million yuan, and the collection of books is 1.7768 million; there are four campuses, namely Liziyuan, Qiliping, Xihu and Jiangbei, with 20 departments (colleges), and two master's programs in food engineering and mechanical engineering. There are 61 undergraduate programs and 10 specialized programs, with 25381 full-time graduate students and undergraduates.
