Nanyang Institute of technology, hereinafter referred to as "Nanyang Institute of technology", is a full-time ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of education. It has been selected as the "hundred school project" Training University of China by the Ministry of education. It is the Pilot School of "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of education. It is one of the first batch of "new engineering research and practice project" selected universities in China.Its predecessor is Nanyang University, which was founded in 1987. In 1993, it was officially approved by the State Education Commission and named Nanyang Institute of technology. The former Zhang Zhongjing National Medical University was incorporated into the University. In 2004, it was upgraded to an undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of education. The system of running a school jointly built by provinces and cities and dominated by cities was implemented.As of May 2017, the college campus has a total area of 1760 mu, with a construction area of 580000 square meters. It has two large sports grounds and one comprehensive gymnasium. It has 19 teaching departments and 50 undergraduate majors. It has more than 1500 teaching staff, and more than 20000 ordinary college students and international students.
