Gannan Normal University, or Gannan Normal University for short, is located in Ganzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in Jiangxi Province. It is a provincial undergraduate Normal University with the right to grant master's and bachelor's degrees. It is a first-class discipline construction university in Jiangxi Province. The undergraduate teaching evaluation expert group of the Ministry of education evaluated the University as "a regional excellent Normal University with distinct characteristics and good prospects".The school was founded in June 1958 as Gannan Normal College. In 1959, it was changed into Gannan Normal University and enrolled undergraduates. In 1964, it was restored to Gannan Normal College. Since then, the name of the university has been changed many times. In 1984, it was restored to Gannan Normal University and upgraded to a provincial undergraduate Normal University. In 2003, it became a master's degree awarding unit. In March 2016, it was renamed Gannan Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of education.As of April 2019, the university has three campuses, namely golden campus, Zhanggong campus and Baita Campus (University Science and Technology Park), covering an area of more than 2200 mu, with a building area of more than 800000 square meters, a total value of more than 259 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment, and a library collection of more than 2.2 million books. The university has 15 teaching colleges, 1 independent college, 1 affiliated middle school and 1 affiliated primary school. The university has 1 postdoctoral research workstation, 1 postdoctoral innovation and practice base, 72 undergraduate majors (including 4 provincial first-class majors), 16 first-class master degree programs (covering 84 second-class master degree programs) and 9 master degree authorization programs. At present, the school has more than 20000 full-time teachers (more than 1000 full-time professional and technical personnel).
