In 1958, it moved to Taiyuan and changed its name to Taiyuan Geology College (undergraduate). In 1959, it moved to Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province and changed its name to Fuzhou Geology College In 2002, it was renamed as Fuzhou Institute of geology; in 1982, it was renamed as East China Institute of geology; in 2002, it was renamed as East China Institute of technology; in 2002 and 2003, Jiangxi national defense technology and industry school and Fuzhou normal college were merged successively; in 2007, it was renamed as East China University of technology. The university is subordinate to the Ministry of geology, the Ministry of nuclear industry, the Commission of science, technology and industry for national defense, and the people's Government of Jiangxi Province. It is the first university in China's nuclear industry.
