Putian University is a full-time undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of education. It is the first batch of pilot units of "excellent doctor education and training program" by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of health. Under the leadership and management of Fujian provincial government, the system of running schools jointly built by provinces and cities and dominated by cities is implemented.The history of affiliated nursing training school can be traced back to 1898. The school is composed of Putian College, Putian branch of Fujian Medical University and Putian overseas Chinese sports normal school. In October 2013, Xianyou normal school was incorporated into Putian University. In January 2018, the university added a new list of master's degree awarding and cultivating units in Fujian Province from 2018 to 2020.The school is located in Putian City, the hometown of Mazu, the goddess of peace on the sea and the famous hometown of overseas Chinese. By 2019, the school has a total area of 1.352 million square meters, with a total construction area of 16.852 million full-time teachers and equipment, and a total construction area of 16.851 million students.
