The predecessor of Zhejiang University of science and technology is Hangzhou Polytechnic College Affiliated to Zhejiang University, which was founded in 1980. It has gone through the development stages of Hangzhou Polytechnic College Affiliated to Zhejiang University and Hangzhou Institute of Applied Engineering and technology. It was renamed Zhejiang University of science and technology in August 2001. In October 2003, Zhejiang light industry school was incorporated. After nearly 40 years of construction, the university has developed into an application-oriented provincial undergraduate university with distinct characteristics, which has the right to grant master's and bachelor's degrees and the right to recruit foreign students, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students. It is one of the first batch of Pilot Universities of "excellent engineer education and training plan" of the Ministry of education, one of the first batch of universities of "new engineering research and practice project" of the Ministry of education, and one of the internationalization characteristics of Zhejiang Province Colleges and universities "construction unit.Xiaoheshan campus is located on the Bank of Xixi Wetland in Xihu District, Hangzhou City, with a land area of more than 1900 Mu and a building area of 470000 square meters; Anji campus has a land area of 800 Mu and a building area of 165000 square meters.As of June 2019, the university has 14 secondary colleges, 1 teaching department, 56 undergraduate majors, 5 first level disciplines authorized by master's degree, more than 20 second level disciplines authorized by master's degree, and 5 Master's degree authorization points. The university enrolls students from 24 provinces (autonomous regions and cities) in China.
