Qiqihar University (Qiqihar University for short) is the only provincial comprehensive university in the western region of Heilongjiang Province. It is one of the three comprehensive universities in Heilongjiang Province. It is a high-level university in Heilongjiang Province and a key construction university in Heilongjiang Province.Qiqihar University was founded in 1952. In 1996, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the former Qiqihar Institute of light industry (founded in 1952) and the former Qiqihar Normal University (founded in 1958) were merged to form Qiqihar University.
