Northeast Petroleum University University, referred to as nepu, is located in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, China's largest petroleum and petrochemical base. It is a national key university born with the discovery of Daqing Oilfield, China's largest oilfield. It is a Petroleum University jointly built by CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC and Heilongjiang Provincial People's government Colleges and universities are the key high-level universities in Heilongjiang Province, the national "excellent engineer education and training plan" and "national college students innovative experiment plan" implementation universities, the national "characteristic key discipline project" construction universities, the "national construction high-level university public postgraduate project" implementation universities, and the member units of CDIO Engineering Education Alliance.Northeast Petroleum University, originated from the petroleum refining Department of Tsinghua University, was born and developed in Daqing Oilfield. It is one of the important achievements of Daqing Oilfield Congress. Its predecessor, Northeast Petroleum College, was founded in May 1960, renamed Daqing Petroleum College in July 1975, and officially renamed Northeast Petroleum University in April 2010. Many of the presidents and vice presidents of PetroChina, Sinopec and CNOOC graduated here and are known as the "Huangpu Military Academy" in the petroleum industry.Northeast Petroleum University focuses on engineering, with coordinated development of engineering, science, management, arts, economics, law, education and art. It has a first-class discipline, a national key discipline and a National University Science Park. The school offers 65 undergraduate majors and 23 Higher Vocational Majors. As of December 2019, there are 24371 full-time students, including 16149 undergraduates, 2640 postgraduates, 424 doctoral students and 5158 junior college students.
