After 1964, the school was managed by the Ministry of textile industry. In 1968, it was renamed Tianjin Institute of textile technology. After 1998, the school implemented the management system jointly built by the Ministry of education and Tianjin city, with Tianjin city as the main management. In 2000, Tianjin Institute of textile technology and Tianjin Institute of economic management merged to form Tianjin University of technology.
